Italian mid-century Italian Dresser by Vittorio and Plinio Dassi, 1950s
$8,000.00
Its distinctive aesthetic character is defined by the original sculptural design of the drawers and lateral supports, as well as by the upper surface composed of a green glass top surmounted by a long, exceptionally thick clear crystal shelf. This upper element is finely decorated along the edges and was handcrafted in Murano by Barovier&Toso, one of the most renowned historic glassmakers in the world.
This refined interplay between cabinetmaking and glass artistry reflects the cultural and creative milieu in which the Dassi workshop operated, rooted in the Cantù tradition and shaped by the close family and professional dialogue between Vittorio Dassi and his brother Plinio Dassi, founders of Dassi Mobili Moderni. Their shared vision combined architectural rigor, sculptural form, and collaborations with leading Italian artisans, resulting in pieces of remarkable material and aesthetic sophistication.
The piece is in very good original condition for the period, as clearly shown in the photographs, and is now ready for immediate use.
